Go Green Morton Grove Compost-Palooza Party & Tour

In recognition of International Compost Awareness Week, Go Green Morton Grove is hosting a party to help community members explore several options for keeping food waste out of landfills.
Come learn about the container-swap service available year-round through Collective Resource Compost and the nine-month, seasonal yard waste tagalong option available through Groot. See examples of things like vermicomposting, too.
Catering by Michael’s, a longtime Collective Resource customer, will provide healthy snacks for the event. The Morton Grove Library Book Bike will be on-hand stocked with eco-friendly titles and there will be a few other surprises to make it a true community celebration.
Eight Tour Stops
After that, attendees will take off to explore the sites of eight Morton Grove neighbors who have volunteered to demonstrate their compost operations. Each stop of the eight stops on the self-guided tour will tell a unique story about reducing waste.
Along the way, you’ll see two butterfly gardens, a National Wildlife Certified Habitat, and meet people who harness the power of worms, and more! You’ll also pick up a free snack and some goodies.
C’MON EAT, another local caterer, will also be part of the tour. Owner Robin Hoppenrath will provide free cookies and share not only how she composts, but other steps to reduce she’s taking to reduce her reliance on single-use plastics.
The Niles Township Office will show off its new community composting bin and certified Monarch Waystation while giving visitors free packets of milkweed seeds.

Attendees are encouraged to bike to the event and bring their own water bottles. This is an outdoor event and tours will require the ability to walk or maneuver over uneven ground.
