The Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA) is a very important piece of climate legislation, and we have a short window to get it passed. The Governor needs to know that you want him to get Illinois on the path to 100% clean energy asap and are very concerned about the FERC ruling that will raise your electricity rates and hurt Illinois’ efforts towards clean energy. Please call Governor Pritzker at 217-782-6830 or 217-782-6831 or 312-814-2121 and ask him to move CEJA forward now. Here is a script from CUB that you can use to call the Governor:
A recent ruling by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) revamps electricity market rules to force northern Illinois customers to pay more to prop up dirty gas and coal plants we don’t need. It also hinders our efforts to secure 100% clean, affordable energy across the state.
This ruling will be disastrous for northern Illinois consumers, and could spark the largest electric increase in state history: Up to $864 million a year. The Clean Energy Jobs Act would reform the electricity market and protect ComEd customers from this increase–but it has to be passed immediately or those higher bills will be locked in.
The FERC ruling punishes Illinois for our pro-consumer energy policies. But the Clean Energy Jobs Act would allow Illinois to keep a lid on power bills and expand clean energy investment across the state.
Please, for the sake of our electric bills and our future, support the Clean Energy Jobs Act!
