Active Transportation Alliance top two legislative priorities in Springfield passed out of both houses in the General Assembly this spring and they’re now on Governor Rauner’s desk for review. The Bike Walk Education in Schools Act (HB 4799) requires school boards statewide to adopt policies for educating K-8 students about biking and walking safety. The Bike Safety and the Dutch Reach Act (HB5143) amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to add information about bike safety to the state’s Rules of the Road manual and driver’s license exam.  Take action here to let the Governor know you support these bills.
