Gillson Habitat Work Day

The Park District has been working all season to maintain the wonderful Gillson Park Bird Habitat that we all helped create, working with the Living Habitats Landscape Designer who designed the garden to ensure that aggressive weeds are controlled and to assess the health and aesthetics of the gardens.
The good news is that the gardens are very healthy, and the plants are robust. Some of them, in fact, are a little too robust. That’s where we come in. They’ve asked if volunteers can help move some of these unexpectedly robust plants to more appropriate locations, making room for staff to fill these areas with shorter species. If we have time, we’ll also take care of some aggressive weeds growing on the bluff.
We have some scouts coming out to help, and it would be super helpful to have lots of adults on hand to work with them. We’ll bring the tools, you bring the muscles!
The workday will be Monday, October 8 (Columbus Day) from 10:00 to noon. Meet on Michigan Avenue where the drive heads down to the parking lot, halfway between Lake and Washington Avenues.
