Go Green Illinois meeting

May 14, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The topic of our May meeting is Native Plants and Natural Lawn Care. We will learn about the environmental benefits of native plants, how to reduce pesticide use in the landscape, leaf blower ordinances, and the use of landscaping for stormwater management. We have a very full program!

Stuart Wagenius, Conservation Scientist at Chicago Botanic Gardens will speak about the importance of native plants. Ryan Anderson, Community IPM Outreach Specialist at the IPM Institute, will provide information about the Midwest Grows Green natural lawn care initiative. Bob Dean, CEO of Center for Neighborhood Technology will provide an overview of their Rain Ready program. Rachel Rosenberg will tell us about an upcoming pollinator exhibit at the Botanic Garden. Beth Drucker will provide information about leaf blower regulations and alternatives.

If you plan to attend, please contact us by May 1 to let us know so that we have enough chairs set up.
