Get a head start to Spring and join us to help up your gardening game! You’ll receive a variety of tips, tricks, resources, and techniques to lead you to success in the garden.

The University of Illinois Extension, Lake County and SWALCO (Solid Waste Agency of Lake County) are happy to present the 2021 Garden Learning Series. Programs will be held on the second Wednesday of the month, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The first in the series will be held on February 10 (virtually) and will feature tips on starting plants from seed.

These workshops are offered through a collaboration between SWALCO and University of Illinois Extension as part of a grant from USDA, focusing on local efforts to promote composting and food waste diversion. The grant also hopes to increase the generation and use of compost in commercial, residential, agriculture, and community gardens sectors in Lake County, Illinois. Community Gardeners wanting to learn more or get involved, can reach out. Please check back to see which programs will be offered virtually or which may be offered live. Visit swalco.org or extension.illinois.edu/lm for further information on these workshops and/or the grant.
