Members of the public are invited to attend a program entitled “Solar Power—-Harnessing Mother Nature’s Gift,” coming soon to Libertyville. The speaker will be Dave Wilms, Solar Consultant, who will show attendees how to use solar power to save money and reduce your carbon footprint. He will have the latest information on the wonderful financial incentives that come through current solar programs: state and federal grants, and ComEd rebates for individuals, community, and business. Discussion will follow.
Dave is well known throughout the community as an award-winning environmental science teacher and has wide knowledge and experience in solar energy benefits and installations in Lake County. Following his retirement from teaching at Adlai Stevenson High School, he worked as a Sustainability Coordinator, was a guest speaker at meetings of the National American Solar Energy Society, and worked extensively with the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation. In 2015, he wrote a grant that culminated in a Megawatt of Solar for Libertyville District 70, making it one of the first large- scale solar installations for a school in the state of Illinois. His company just finished putting a 1 Megawatt System on Stevenson High School to power their new Net-Zero School Addition, and is in the process of adding another Megawatt of Solar to the new Lake County Communications Center in Libertyville.
He has worked on solar energy projects for companies, municipalities, organizations, small businesses, and local governments. These include large-scale solar projects that have added thousands of megawatts of solar power to the grid.
