Take A Pass on Plastics

January 14 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

An estimated one-third of all plastic produced globally is used once and thrown away, and only about 6% of the plastic waste in the U.S. is recycled. Most of it ends up in landfills where it leaches into soil and groundwater, threatening the health of ecosystems, wildlife and humans. The effectiveness of recycling is very limited. Sharon will update us on the problems of single-use plastic and how we can all be part of the solution. More information is available at www.sierraclub.org/illinois/woods-wotlands/take-pass-plastics.

Sharon Starr is Libertyville resident and long-time Sierra Club member. As a volunteer. she developed and led the Illinois Sierra Club’s “Take a Pass on Plastics” campaign. She also serves on the Conservation Committee of the Woods and Wetlands (Lake County)
Group of the Sierra Club.
