Why An Invisible Gas Needs a Visible Price

March 10, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Climate Change is on the Ballot on April 6th!  Come learn why an invisible gas needs a visible price.

There will be an advisory question about a carbon fee on the New Trier Township ballot this spring; come learn about it, what it means and why it matters. The League of Women Voters Wilmette will walk you through this important ballot question on climate change alongside Mike Ryan, a local volunteer with Citizens’ Climate Lobby, who will explain how the carbon fee and dividend policy described in the ballot question will reduce U.S. carbon emissions while ensuring an equitable transition to a green economy. There will be a Q & A following the presentation.

ADVISORY QUESTION THAT WILL APPEAR ON THE BALLOT:

Shall the U.S. Congress pass legislation to place a carbon fee on fossil fuel producers, where the collected revenue is given equitably to American households, incentivizing businesses and consumers to reduce climate disrupting emissions, transition to clean energy, and protect our economic well-being?

After you register for this event, you will immediately be sent your unique Zoom link to use to access the program on March 10.
