Go Green Wilmette is working in collaboration with the Village and the Chamber of Commerce to green Summerfest, Wilmette’s street festival scheduled for July 20 and 21.
Here are the highlights:
- The Village is providing a mobile water station to eliminate plastic water bottles and provide hand washing.
- We are working with the Chamber of Commerce, local restaurants and food trucks to reduce the amount of single use plastic plates and cups used.
- Food waste will be collected and composted through Collective Resource, compliments of Go Green Wilmette.
- Refuse stations will be set up throughout the festival area to make recycling easy.
- We will encourage everyone to walk or bicycle to the event and park in the centrally-located bike corral.
Kudos to the Village, the Chamber of Commerce and Bike Wilmette for their commitment to reducing the environmental impact of the event.
