There are several ongoing investigations of fossil fuel companies to determine their role in the climate crisis. States, municipalities and even a group of children are suing these companies for damages caused. Details on some of these cases are here. Younger generations are fighting for a livable planet. There is evidence that these companies knew of the dangers associated with greenhouse gas emissions, planned around the expected impacts (such as sea level rise), and actively worked to discredit the scientific consensus that climate change is caused by GHG emissions.
