Go Green Highland Park is taking initial steps to launch a plastic bag reduction challenge. A similar effort was undertaken in 2009 by 25 ski towns, which resulted in plastic bag bans or fees in many of the participating towns.  Highland Park would like to work with other Go Green Groups to have a friendly competition to see who can reduce bag use the most. One possibility is to limit the challenge to one store in multiple towns, perhaps Sunset Foods, and expand if the effort is successful. Just let her know if your group or organization has a Sunset Foods and if so, if you would be interested in being a part of a possible plastic bag reduction initiative/awareness.
